Virtual is the conference way for Britain's leading tinnitus group
conference
The British Tinnitus Association (BTA) has announced that its annual 2020 conference will still go ahead—virtually, i.e. online—from October 5 to 9.
Making conferences virtual has proved the only practical option for organisations across all fields and sectors. Analysis of the drawbacks and silver linings of swapping physical gathering spaces for travel-free click fests from one's own home might reveal surprises as these unavoidable experiments provide the perfect opportunity for comparison studies. But whatever the arguments, the reality of conferences right now is virtuality, existence in a digital medium.
One clear advantage of the online conference is that they allow you to be in two places at the time. For example, the virtual visitor to the BTA event might also make judicious trips on the final day to the key opening of the month-long EUHA 2020 Congress , which is also now taking place virtually.
The BTA Virtual Conference 2020 is aimed at audiologists, ENTs, GPs, hearing care professionals, psychologists, tinnitus support groups and researchers, and will take place online over five days of lectures, workshops, seminars and networking opportunities. It will include a key note speech from David Baguley, Professor of Hearing Sciences at the University of Nottingham, on ‘Biobanks – what can they tell us about tinnitus?’.
The BTA is among the world's most active and engaged tinnitus bodies, and its international profile has recently been widened through a meaningful team-up to share knowledge and experiences with the American Tinnitus Association. Tinnitus followers, hence, from outside the UK will also find plenty as each day of this coming BTA conference presents a different theme – including the psychology of tinnitus, practical skills and the latest in tinnitus research – with topics ranging from sleep to brain imaging, and internet-based CBT to the effects of Covid-19.
Tickets cost £100 each and include access to all recorded conference material for 12 months after the event. For the full agenda and tickets, click here.
