AAA Conference 2023

When and where will the next American Academy of Audiology (AAA) Conference take place?
Mark your calendars for AAA 2023+HearTECH Expo, which will take place for the first time in the seaport city of Seattle, Washington, April 19-22 (2023).
The programme chair for the 2023 event is Brenna Carroll, AuD, clinical audiologist with Swedish Medical Group in Seattle. The call for abstracts will open in August 2022, and registration and housing will open in November.
A historic host city, grown from timber, aerospace, and music
Formerly a key point on the logging industry map, Seattle grew rapidly as the main point of supply for miners of gold in Alaska and the Yukon. Hilly, and part of a major earthquake zone, the city is surrounded by rivers, forests, lakes, and the sea. During World War I, it became the birthplace of the Boeing aircraft company, while among the most famous Seattleites are Bill Gates, Jimi Hendrix, and Quincy Jones.
Those last two names figure in a Seattle musicscape that saw more than 20 jazz clubs running between 1918 and 1951, the great Ray Charles being one of the stars to emerge from the local scene. But in the early 1990s the city was home to grunge music, partists producing groups such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam, and one of the world's best-known independent music labels, Sub Pop.
Spreading the venues for audiology
AAA conferences have been held all over the United States, most recently at the beginning of April 2022 in St. Louis, Missouri. Former venues have included Los Angeles, Washington DC, Nashville (twice), Chicago (twice), Philadelphia, Phoenix (twice), and a stateless place called Virtual (during the Covid pandemic of 2021).
