These heartfelt stories highlight the hard work of the country’s best audiologists and why they deserve to be rewarded on an international stage.

Following the competition’s 10th anniversary a survey was conducted with previous winning or commended audiologists to gain insights on all aspects of the activity. One of the key feedbacks was the many benefits to their businesses. These included: networking opportunities; new customers; being recognised by international hearing associations; Local and national media interest and validation by your peers.

The annual competition is run by Rayovac, in partnership with Audio Infos, the European Hearing Instrument Manufacturers Association (EHIMA) and the European Federation of Hard of Hearing People (EFHOH).

The winning audiologist will join an exclusive circle of hearing care professionals who have won the coveted title over the past decade, including 10 European winners, 65 country winners and 264 audiologists commended throughout Europe. The competition is open to both private and public sector audiologists, who could find themselves recognised by some of the most prominent organisations in the hearing industry on an international stage.

New for 2018, an updated pack and digital support including key assets such as posters, display boards, banners and social media posts will be available to help audiologists promote the competition in their practices and via their networks.

With a refreshed and easy-to-understand judging criteria for 2018, an independent panel of industry professionals from organisations including Audio Infos, EFHOH, EHIMA, T-oigo, Sound Seekers, DSB – Deutscher Schwerhörigenbund e.V plus many more, will be responsible for identifying worthy winners from nine countries across Europe, including the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, Austria and Sweden.

General Secretary of EHIMA, Dr Stefan Zimmer, said: “Audiologist of the Year is a fantastic showcase of both talent and commitment to the profession and we eagerly anticipate another year of exceptional stories from patients whose lives have been transformed through the dedication of hearing practices and departments throughout Europe.”

Alain Baudevin, COO EDP Santé, Audio Infos’ publisher, said: “Our international network of journalists are proud to be involved in this fantastic initiative and they thoroughly enjoy reading how the audiologists in their country are helping people to hear. This contest also inspires our readers as they see their profession acknowledged through these amazing stories.”

The winning audiologist will also receive £250 plus a generous PR package to help them promote their practice or department. The patient who wrote the winning entry is also eligible for a cash prize of £250 and a gift bundle worth almost £200.

Paula Brinson-Pyke, Marketing Director at Rayovac, said: “Over the past decade Audiologist of the Year has become one of the most distinguished and respected accolades in the hearing industry. To date we have had 10 European winners and over 260 audiologists throughout Europe commended for their exemplary work.

“This year we have listened to the feedback from audiologists and have enhanced both the Audiologist of the Year entry pack and also the judging criteria for the competition. The entry pack includes everything patients need to know in order to nominate successfully and an array of promotional materials audiologists can introduce to their practices and departments to help encourage entries.”
