Helping patients to understand as well as hear

Videos

As an audiologist, how confident are you that all of the information and advice you offer your first-time hearing aid patients is understood, absorbed, and then acted upon once they leave the comfort of your clinic?

Helping patients to understand as well as hear

C2Hear is a series of interactive, multimedia videos about hearing aids, hearing loss and communication developed by the NIHR Nottingham Hearing Biomedical Research Unit (NHBRU) that are now freely available online for patients to access via computer, smartphone or tablet here.

C2Hear offers instructions and advice on topics covered such as getting to know your hearing aids, how to insert a custom mould, replacing batteries, retubing and troubleshooting. Whilst the videos have been designed for first-time hearing aid users, but may also be beneficial to existing hearing aid users, as well as family and friends. The videos have been shown to provide a range of benefits to first-time hearing aid users by a high-quality research study.

In addition, the videos have been processed so that they can be auto-played via DVD or USB for monitors in Audiology or Health Centre waiting rooms. Contact Melanie.Ferguson@nottingham.ac.uk if you would like a copy. C2Hear has been developed by the NIHR Nottingham Hearing Biomedical Research Unit in partnership with The University of Nottingham and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
