Vitakustik acquires Lindacher Akustik GmbH
Retail
Vitakustik GmBH, based in Munich, Germany announced on January 13 that it took over Lindacher Akustik GmbH on January 2, 2016.
Lindacher Akustik GmbH operates 33 “specialist audiology stores mainly in and around Stuttgart, Dresden and Erfurt”, indicates Vitakustik President Wilhelm Evers in a press release. The existing management team at Lindacher Akustik GmbH under the leadership of Rainer Schmidt will continue to run the 33 stores “as before”.
“Over the last few months, we have been looking for a business partner to further strengthen the position of Lindacher Akustik and to secure the company in the long term,” says Lindacher Akustik President Rainer Schmidt in a letter to business associates. As a result, it was also important “not to give up the company’s fundamental business strategy and philosophy through a buyout, but rather to maintain it.” With Vitakustik, the company has found this type of business partner.
Lindacher Akustik GmbH is to remain legally and commercially independent and will continue to operate under the responsibility of the present director and current management team. This was also emphasized in the letter to business associates.
The company takeover must however still be approved by the German federal competition authorities.
As officially reported in early March last year, Vitakustik GmbH is a company of the Sonova Group. With Fiebing hearing aids, the Swiss group owns another audiology company in Germany. This means that the total number of Sonova-held audiology stores in Germany is now 138.
