Focusing on the future

Despite recent worldwide challenges, at the British Tinnitus Association, we’re more committed than ever to our vision for ‘a world where no one suffers from tinnitus’.

We know that our support is valued and helpful, but we also know that we’re not reaching everyone that needs us. We need everyone touched by tinnitus to know that we’re here for them when they first develop tinnitus, to give trustworthy support and information; we’ll be with them every step of the way on their tinnitus journey – for the good and bad times; and we’re relentless in our pursuit for a cure.

The charity has made huge strides in recent years, and are very proud of what we’ve achieved, but we want to push harder. We know that awareness of the British Tinnitus Association could be higher, and that the condition and its impact is not widely understood by the general public. We want to change that so that we can reach more people, and urge more people to support us to drive tinnitus research breakthroughs.

The last year has brought about major disruption worldwide, and Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on the tinnitus community and charities in the UK. This adds strength to the need to be the best we can possibly be.

With that in mind, we’re taking stock of how we present and talk about ourselves. We are many things to many people, but this can be confusing and overwhelming. We know that we need to be clearer and stronger in how we look and talk in order to have relevance in what is currently – and is likely to continue to be – very challenging times for our community and sector.

We’re working closely with our supporters and stakeholders to inform the direction we take and are looking forward to shaping the future of the British Tinnitus Association.
