Following the disappointment of the recent cancellation of the 2020 Deaf Cricket World Cup, participating teams have now set their sights on the rescheduled event, set for October 2021 in the United Arab Emirates.
One of the latest confirmed participants will be the India cricket team, which hosted the 2018 World Cup. "We are delighted to receive this invitation and witness great enthusiasm amongst our team players for the upcoming tournament. The potential of our team has been proven time and time again with their remarkable performances in the previously held tournaments,” said Indian Deaf Cricket Association President, Sumit Jain.
The World Cup is organised by the Deaf International Cricket Council (DICC), which was established in 2013 to empower cricketers with hearing loss around the world. The organisation has grown to include eight full members—Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe—and four associate members: India, Nepal, New Zealand, and USA.
This year's planned November World Cup was cancelled on March because of coronavirus concerns. The 2020 event is scheduled for October 19 to 29.
