Professional bodies UK: BAA UPDATE January 2025
Each issue of Audiology News UK carries a useful update on the UK professional associations, the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists (BSHAA) and the British Academy of Audiology (BAA). As a service to members of both organisations, we post these updates online too.
BAA Board Director Changes following the AGM
Following the BAA's Annual General Meeting in November, we welcome our new President, Claire Benton, and Vice President, Dr. Saima Rajasingam. Notably, this marks the first time both leadership roles are held by individuals with ties to the private sector.
Claire brings a wealth of experience from her decades-long career in the NHS, now working as an audiology consultant in private practice. Dr. Saima Rajasingam balances her expertise between a part-time role at a private hearing practice in London and her academic position at Anglia Ruskin University. With their combined knowledge spanning the NHS, private sector, and education, the new BAA Executive team is uniquely equipped to guide the organisation forward over the next two years.
