Issue 11 of Audiology News UK (formerly Audio Infos) covers the recent Parliamentary Launch of Specsavers’ Hearing Health Report – It’s Time to Talk About Hearing. This controversial proposal to alter the NHS pathway for adult audiology services drew MPs to a gathering attended by many of the hearing sphere’s companies and institutions. What arguments are they hearing from those who want to give NHS patients the option of care in high street practices?

On the same hot topic, Scrivens’ leader Mark Georgevic calls for an “inevitable” collaboration between professional associations and the NHS to bring about pathway change “in the best interest of patients”.

In the same magazine, read Professor Kevin Munro’s latest clarification of the status of research into links between hearing loss and dementia, and this leading academic’s warning that these links are currently at the level of links between ice cream and sales of sunglasses.

There is a round-up packed with photos of October’s EUHA Congress in Hanover, Germany, and the UK’s industry body BIHIMA puts out a call to audiologists for their opinions on a wide range of big issues for the profession. And back in Germany, there is a UK-style pub at the HQ of medical tech firm, Dreve. What’s the story?
