Apple Hearing Aid Feature customers should consult professional audiologists, says leading hearing charity
"Bringing this type of technology into the mainstream signals an exciting step change in how people receive hearing care and could encourage more people to consider their hearing health." This is how Crystal Rolfe, Director of the UK's Health at the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) has greeted Apple's release of a Hearing Aid Feature (HAF) with its AirPods Pro 2 product. But the greeting is tempered with advice to the giant tech company that it should inform its customers to seek professional help for their hearing. Officially unavailable in the UK until February 24, 2025, this hearing aid capacity offered by Apple incorporates an "intuitive" hearing test and, says the multinational, targets people with mild-to-moderate hearing loss.
