US and EU clearance granted for EssilorLuxottica's ambitious hearing specs
Based in France, EssilorLuxottica is the biggest manufacturer of ophthalmic lenses and eyeglasses in the world and the owner of brands such as Ray-Ban. Its new year acquisition of AI start-up Pulse Audition, means it has a good grip on AI-based noise reduction and voice enhancement through algorithms allowing people with hearing impairment to better understand speech, even in noisy environments.

With its ambitions to disrupt the hearing aid market with a well-greased refiring of the old idea of hearing glasses, EssilorLuxottica has announced that it has received simultaneous clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and CE marking from the European Commission (EC) for its Nuance product.
This paves the way for the arrival of Nuance Audio on both US and European markets.
