Meditation app spreading wellbeing to hearing and eye health professionals
Stress reduction, focus, sleep, love - a leading retail group offers the mindfulness aid to all its colleagues.
MORE than 10,000 professionals across the eye and hearing health sectors have taken up the offer of free access to a mindfulness app called Headspace, says the retail optometry and audiology practice group Specsavers, which is behind the gesture.
The offer of a free subscription to Headspace app was made to all colleagues of Specsavers for more than two years, encompassing community practices, support offices, manufacturing and distribution sites, and to family and friends of colleagues.
More than half of users use the app for sleep help
Steven Evans, head of wellbeing and inclusion at Specsavers, said they have counted ten million minutes of usage since free subscription was first offered. “Around one in five of our colleagues have signed up and are using it regularly, with 54% of the usage around sleep related content. Of course, there is a lot more content available on a wide range of topics to support colleagues.”
The website for Headspace has a long list of ways in which getting mindful can help, and it provides explanations on the basics of meditation, how to do it, and what types there are of meditation.
