Interacoustics’ real life testing plunge makes it Innovator of the Year 2024

The impressively broad categories of one of audiology’s annual awards schemes – the recently introduced Hearing Technology Innovator Awards, run by the experts at the Hearing Health and Technology Matters (HHTM) site – offers individual honours to be proud of. Being declared the overall winner, as the Demant-owned Interacoustics can this year boast, is a beast of a bragging right.

Voted by the HHTM panel of independent judges as Innovator of the Year 2024, the Danish company owes its accolade to the decision to develop its ACT (Audible Contrast Threshold) Test, a bold dilation of the everyday scope of hearing testing, one that reveals the patient’s capacity to deal with noise in real-life situations.

“We really appreciate this acknowledgement and are happy that the hearing care community can see the benefit of the ACT test,” commented Ole Lundsgaard, Senior Product Manager, Hearing Aid Fitting, Interacoustics.

Judge panel member Andrew Bellavia, Founder of Aurafuturity underlined the importance of the test: “Conversation in noise remains the number one problem for users of hearing devices. A language-independent test that optimises device programming for noisy situations is an innovation that will improve the listening experience for many. Congratulations to Interacoustics on this well-deserved recognition.”

Wins for Signia, Starkey, Phonak, Oticon,…

There were wins too for many other known brands, and some not too well known: in the Hearing Aid category, Phonak’s new Audeo Sphere Infinio won the award for best RIC, Widex SmartRIC for Non-Traditional, Starkey Signature Series in Custom category, and Signia Styletto IX for design. But the OTC – Receiver in Canal and OTC – In the ear awards went to newcomers, respectively Concha Sol Hearing Aids, and LINNER Mars.
